Oz - Number 6

This is the Sydney Oz that sparked demos, built legal careers and dragged though the courts for a couple of years. The tale is told in the memoir, Hippie Hippie Shake, so I won't repeat it here. Only one of the people pictured right was an editor of Oz - the other two were stand-ins. Richie Walsh was busy driving a lift and Martin Sharp was in Newport, searching for a party to crash.

This Oz hit the Sydney streets in February 1964. All copies shipped to Melbourne were confiscated by the Vice Squad.
